In deze privacyverklaring leggen we uit welke gegevens we verzamelen, waarom we dat doen en welke keuzes je hebt. MeMo, voorheen Circle, is een sociale app waarin je foto's, video's, reacties en herinneringen deelt met de vrienden of groepen die jij kiest.

Welke gegevens verzamelen we

Accountgegevens zoals je naam, e-mailadres, gebruikersnaam, profielfoto en accountstatus.
Content die je zelf deelt, zoals posts, reacties (inclusief gesproken reacties), foto's, video's, emoji-reacties en memories.
Sociale gegevens zoals vriendschappen, vriendschapsverzoeken, groepen en gekozen publieken voor posts.
Locatiegegevens (coördinaten en plaatsnaam) van foto's en video's die je met de camera maakt — alleen als je dit hebt ingeschakeld via Instellingen > Privacy.
Instellingen en voorkeuren, bijvoorbeeld privacykeuzes, meldingsvoorkeuren en thema.
Apparaatgegevens die nodig zijn voor meldingen en beveiliging, zoals een push token, platform en app-versie.
Beperkte technische gegevens zoals foutmeldingen, synchronisatiestatus en tijdstippen die nodig zijn om de app betrouwbaar te laten werken.

Waarvoor gebruiken we die gegevens

Om je account te maken, te beheren en veilig te houden.
Om jouw content te tonen aan de vrienden of groepen die jij kiest.
Om reacties, memories, vriendschappen, notificaties en publiekskeuzes goed te synchroniseren.
Om instellingen te onthouden, mislukte acties opnieuw te proberen en de app beter te laten werken bij trage of wisselende verbindingen.
Om je meldingen te sturen als je meldingen hebt ingeschakeld.
Om, als je dit inschakelt, te herkennen wanneer je samen was met vrienden of vrienden-van-vrienden op basis van locatie, en dit voor te stellen als gedeeld moment.

Camera, microfoon en media

MeMo vraagt alleen om cameratoegang wanneer jij een foto of video wilt maken, bijvoorbeeld om een nieuw moment te delen of je profielfoto te maken. Microfoontoegang wordt gevraagd wanneer je een video met geluid opneemt of een gesproken reactie (voice comment) opneemt. Toegang tot je fotobibliotheek wordt alleen gebruikt om foto's of video's te openen die jij zelf selecteert, bijvoorbeeld om een bestaande foto of video als moment te plaatsen of als profielfoto te kiezen. Als je media opslaat, kan MeMo schrijftoegang tot je fotobibliotheek gebruiken om dat bestand in je filmrol te bewaren.

Locatie

Als je "Locatie aan foto's toevoegen" inschakelt via Instellingen > Privacy, slaat MeMo op waar een foto of video met de camera is gemaakt (coördinaten en een plaatsnaam), zodat herinneringen per plek gegroepeerd kunnen worden. Deze instelling staat standaard uit. Locatie wordt alleen vastgelegd bij foto's en video's die je met de camera in de app maakt, niet bij bestaande media uit je fotobibliotheek.

Als je daarnaast "Gedeelde momenten voorstellen" inschakelt, gebruikt MeMo deze locatiegegevens ook om te herkennen wanneer je samen was met vrienden of vrienden-van-vrienden, en stelt dit voor als een gedeeld moment dat jullie samen kunnen bewaren. Hiervoor wordt jouw locatie vergeleken met die van je vrienden en vrienden-van-vrienden binnen MeMo. Deze instelling werkt alleen als "Locatie aan foto's toevoegen" ook aan staat, en kan er onafhankelijk van worden uitgezet.

Je kunt beide instellingen op elk moment uitzetten via Instellingen > Privacy. Als je "Locatie aan foto's toevoegen" uitzet, verwijdert MeMo ook de al opgeslagen locatiegegevens van je bestaande foto's en video's.

Contacten

Als jij daarvoor toestemming geeft, gebruikt MeMo e-mailadressen uit je contacten om vrienden voor te stellen die mogelijk al een MeMo-account hebben. We gebruiken je contacten niet om namens jou berichten te sturen en verkopen deze gegevens niet.

Meldingen

Als je meldingen inschakelt, bewaren we een push token van je apparaat. Daarmee kunnen we meldingen sturen over bijvoorbeeld vriendschapsverzoeken, reacties, posts of toegang tot de app. Je kunt meldingen altijd uitzetten via de instellingen van je apparaat.

Lokale opslag en offline gebruik

MeMo kan gegevens tijdelijk op je apparaat bewaren, bijvoorbeeld concepten, wachtrijen voor acties die nog niet verzonden zijn, synchronisatiestatus, recent geladen content en media die nodig zijn om de app sneller te openen. Dit helpt de app betrouwbaarder te werken bij trage of wisselende verbindingen. Deze lokale gegevens worden alleen gebruikt voor de werking van MeMo.

Rapporteren, blokkeren en veiligheid

Als je content of een gebruiker rapporteert, bewaren we de informatie die nodig is om die melding te beoordelen, zoals de gemelde content, het betrokken account, je gebruikers-ID, het tijdstip en eventuele toelichting die je zelf toevoegt. Als je iemand blokkeert, bewaren we die keuze zodat de app contact en zichtbaarheid tussen jullie kan beperken.

Geen tracking of verkoop

MeMo verkoopt je gegevens niet en gebruikt je gegevens niet voor advertenties van derden of cross-app tracking.

Delen van gegevens

We delen jouw gegevens alleen met dienstverleners die nodig zijn om de app te laten werken (zoals authenticatie, hosting, opslag, database, notificaties en app-distributie). Deze partijen mogen gegevens alleen verwerken voor het leveren van de app. We verkopen je gegevens niet.

Voorbeelden van dienstverleners zijn Supabase voor authenticatie, database en opslag, Expo en de pushdiensten van Apple en Google voor meldingen, en Apple voor app-distributie en App Store-gerelateerde diensten.

Bewaartermijnen

We bewaren je gegevens zolang je account actief is of zolang dat nodig is om de app te leveren, misbruik te voorkomen en wettelijke verplichtingen na te komen. Wanneer je je account verwijdert, verwijderen of anonimiseren we je accountgegevens en content voor zover dat technisch en wettelijk mogelijk is.

Beperkte gegevens kunnen tijdelijk bewaard blijven in back-ups, beveiligingslogs, administratieve gegevens of rapportages die nodig zijn voor veiligheid, misbruikpreventie of wettelijke verplichtingen.

Internationale verwerking

Dienstverleners kunnen gegevens verwerken in andere landen dan het land waar je woont. Waar nodig gebruiken we de waarborgen van deze dienstverleners om je gegevens te beschermen.

Beveiliging

We gebruiken authenticatie, toegangscontroles en opslagrechten om je gegevens te beschermen. Geen enkel systeem is volledig risicovrij, maar we beperken toegang tot gegevens tot wat nodig is om de app te leveren en te beveiligen.

Leeftijd

MeMo is niet bedoeld voor kinderen jonger dan 13 jaar. Als we ontdekken dat we gegevens van een kind jonger dan 13 jaar hebben verzameld zonder geldige toestemming, verwijderen we die gegevens waar redelijkerwijs mogelijk.

Jouw keuzes

Pas je privacyinstellingen aan in de app.
Schakel meldingen uit in je apparaatinstellingen.
Weiger of trek toestemming voor camera, microfoon, contacten of foto's in via je apparaatinstellingen.
Verwijder je account via Instellingen > Account in de app.
Neem contact met ons op als je vragen hebt over inzage, correctie of verwijdering van je gegevens.

Wijzigingen

We kunnen deze privacyverklaring aanpassen wanneer MeMo verandert of wanneer regels wijzigen. De datum bovenaan laat zien wanneer deze verklaring voor het laatst is bijgewerkt.

This privacy policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have. MeMo, formerly Circle, is a social app where you share photos, videos, comments, and memories with the friends or groups you choose.

What data we collect

Account details such as your name, email address, username, profile photo, and account status.
Content you choose to share, such as posts, comments (including voice comments), photos, videos, emoji reactions, and memories.
Social data such as friendships, friend requests, groups, and selected audiences for posts.
Location data (coordinates and a place name) from photos and videos you take with the camera — only if you have enabled this via Settings > Privacy.
Settings and preferences, for example privacy choices, notification preferences, and theme.
Device data needed for notifications and security, such as a push token, platform, and app version.
Limited technical data such as errors, sync status, and timestamps needed to keep the app reliable.

How we use the data

To create, manage, and secure your account.
To show your content to the friends or groups you choose.
To sync comments, memories, friendships, notifications, and audience choices correctly.
To remember settings, retry failed actions, and keep the app working well on slow or changing connections.
To send you notifications if you have enabled notifications.
To recognize, if you enable this, when you were together with friends or friends-of-friends based on location, and suggest this as a shared moment.

Camera, microphone, and media

MeMo only requests camera access when you choose to take a photo or video, for example to share a new moment or create a profile photo. Microphone access is requested when you record a video with sound or record a voice comment. Photo library access is used only to open photos or videos that you select, for example to post an existing photo or video or choose a profile photo. If you save media, MeMo may use photo library write access to save that file to your camera roll.

Location

If you enable "Add location to photos" via Settings > Privacy, MeMo stores where a photo or video was taken with the camera (coordinates and a place name), so memories can be grouped by place. This setting is off by default. Location is only captured for photos and videos you take with the camera in the app, not for existing media from your photo library.

If you also enable "Suggest shared moments", MeMo uses this location data to recognize when you were together with friends or friends-of-friends, and suggests this as a shared moment you can keep together. This compares your location data with that of your friends and friends-of-friends within MeMo. This setting only works if "Add location to photos" is also on, and can be turned off independently.

You can turn off either setting at any time via Settings > Privacy. If you turn off "Add location to photos", MeMo also deletes the location data already stored on your existing photos and videos.

Contacts

If you grant permission, MeMo uses email addresses from your contacts to suggest friends who may already have a MeMo account. We do not use your contacts to send messages on your behalf and we do not sell this data.

Notifications

If you enable notifications, we store a push token for your device. This lets us send notifications about friend requests, comments, posts, or access to the app. You can turn off notifications at any time in your device settings.

Local storage and offline use

MeMo may temporarily store data on your device, such as drafts, queues for actions that have not been sent yet, sync status, recently loaded content, and media needed to open the app faster. This helps the app work more reliably on slow or changing connections. This local data is used only to operate MeMo.

Reporting, blocking, and safety

If you report content or a user, we store the information needed to review that report, such as the reported content, the account involved, your user ID, the time of the report, and any explanation you choose to provide. If you block someone, we store that choice so the app can limit contact and visibility between you.

No tracking or sale

MeMo does not sell your data and does not use your data for third-party advertising or cross-app tracking.

Sharing data

We share your data only with service providers needed to operate the app (such as hosting, authentication, storage, database, notifications, and app distribution). These providers may process data only to provide the app. We do not sell your data.

Examples of service providers include Supabase for authentication, database, and storage; Expo and Apple/Google push services for notifications; and Apple for app distribution and App Store-related services.

Retention

We keep your data while your account is active or as long as needed to provide the app, prevent abuse, and comply with legal obligations. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your account data and content where technically and legally possible.

Limited data may remain temporarily in backups, security logs, administrative records, or reports needed for safety, abuse prevention, or legal obligations.

International processing

Service providers may process data in countries other than the country where you live. Where needed, we rely on safeguards provided by these service providers to protect your data.

Security

We use authentication, access controls, and storage permissions to protect your data. No system is completely risk-free, but we limit access to data to what is needed to provide and secure the app.

Age

MeMo is not intended for children under 13. If we learn that we have collected data from a child under 13 without valid consent, we will delete that data where reasonably possible.

Your choices

Update your privacy settings in the app.
Turn off notifications in your device settings.
Deny or revoke camera, microphone, contacts, or photo permissions in your device settings.
Delete your account via Settings > Account in the app.
Contact us if you have questions about access, correction, or deletion of your data.

Changes

We may update this privacy policy when MeMo changes or when legal requirements change. The date at the top shows when this policy was last updated.
